Member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Artak Zakaryan commented on the prolongation of deployment of Russian military base in Gyumri. “If it is possible to substantiate that Russia is able to ensure these guarantees in a longer period of time, it is in Armenia’s interests to prolong the terms of partnership,” he said in an interview with the Hayots Ashkharh newspaper.

According to him, the point is in parallel with the modernization of Gyumri Russian military base, Russia is obliged to ensure Armenia’s security jointly with the Armenian armed forces in case of external military aggression. It is a big strong argument to lift Azerbaijani military threats.

“I think this factor brought Ilham Aliyev, a record holder in making bellicose statements in the region, to his senses,” Zakaryan stressed.
