Russia and the West agreed on the sale of S-300 air-defense systems to Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, NKR Parliament Vahram Atanesyan stated in an interview with the daily.

According to him, setting S-300 systems around the perimeter of the Caspian and Black Sea is in Moscow’s interests too. “Russia seeks to ensure own security in the context of Iranian nuclear issue. In this regard, it becomes clear Russia pursues its political, economic interests and does not try to please Baku at all. Atanesyan sharply criticized some politicians, claiming Armenia should withdraw from CSTO in case Russia sells S-300 systems to Azerbaijan. He disagreed with the statement Azerbaijan tries to defend its logistics to attack Nagorno-Karabakh by purchasing S-300 systems. “As if the Armenian side is going to occupy Baku tomorrow,” the MP said.
