The situation within the government circles is not calm, the reason being reshuffle within the system, Chairman of the People’s Party of Armenia (PPA) Tigran Karapetyan told a press conference on August 28.

Evidence thereof is, according to him, that the Prosperous Armenia Party did not take part in a state dinner on the occasion of RF President Dmitry Medvedev’s state visit to Armenia. Certain changes are taking place within the Opposition as well.

“For example I do not consider Levon Ter-Petrosyan an Opposition member because he is an official. The only different is that he has no chair. If he is addressed as ‘Mr. President’, can he be an Opposition member? Ter-Petrosyan is the same official – they themselves admit their programs are similar to Serzh Sargsyan’s program. I am an oppositionist even more than Ter-Petrosyan,” Karapetyan said. According to him, the people are sympathetic to Ter-Petrosyan, hoping he will punish the incumbent if he comes to power.

“Ter-Petrosyan and the Armenian National Congress (ANC) show from time to time that their aim is not to lose their voters,” Karapetyan said. He added that the ANC plans to “clean itself from the Armenian National Movement.”
