YEREVAN. - Rail trips in the territory of Russia will better ensure the security of Armenian passengers as compared to automobile transport. Gagik Movsesyan, head of the South Caucasian Railway (SCR) Directorate of Passenger Traffic told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

According to him, since October 6, SCR has begun selling internal tickets of the Russian railway at Yerevan railway station. “You know how many people leave for Russia from here and return by buses and minibuses. Now they can reach the nearest stations of Krasnodar and Minvody and continue their journey by train even up to Vladivostok. This is not only more convenient but also safer, since the traffic statistics isn’t always encouraging.  There is, of course, price difference with motor transport, but it’s not that much. And the travel time – if compared with, for example, Moscow – is almost the same,” Movsesyan said.

SCR CJSC is the subsidiary of the RR CJSC, which concluded a concession agreement with the Armenian railway in February 2008. The agreement is for 30 years with a 10-year renewable period.
