YEREVAN. - Most of the citizens are currently not particularly interested in constitutional amendments, Prosperous Armenia faction MP Gurgen Arsenyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

According to Arsenyan, the citizens are busy with social issues and in order for the majority to take interest in the referendum and assure themselves of the efficiency of the new mechanisms for forming government, as well the changes it will bring into life, propaganda tools are needed. But  this is very difficult to carry out today, he said.

Responding to the question on whether he is going to take part in the propaganda process, Arsenyan said he voted for the draft in the Parliament and his participation is not yet discussed.

“No common agreement has yet been reached. When the referendum initiator makes proposal on propaganda, we will discuss that proposal, since we weren’t the initiators of the changes. This means that we won’t play the role of a locomotive in that train,” he said.

Prior to taking part in the consultations on draft constitutional reforms with President Serzh Sargsyan on September 9, Gurgen Arsenyan was against the amendments, and stated that “Armenia has no constitutional crisis and thus there is no need to make constitutional amendments.”
