YEREVAN. – The October 27 incidents are fully uncovered. Head of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia National Assembly (RPA NA) Faction, Vahram Baghdasaryan, told the abovementioned to reporters on Tuesday.

“[And] the criminals [are] identified,” he added.

It is noteworthy, however, that NA President and RPA Vice Chairman Galust Sahakyan had expressed a view, earlier in the day, that this tragedy is not yet solved.

Sahakyan had stated that Armenia needs resources and a huge arsenal to uncover the circumstances behind the 1999 shootings at the NA.

Sixteen years have passed since the day of a terrorist attack, led by Nairi Hunanyan, in Armenia’s Parliament building.

Then Parliament Speaker Karen Demirchyan, PM Vazgen Sargsyan, Deputy Speakers Yuri Bakhshyan and Ruben Miroyan, Minister of Operative Affairs Leonard Petrosyan as well as MPs Armenak Armenakyan, Henrikh Abrahamyan, and Mikayel Kotanyan fell victims to the gunmen.

The judicial proceedings against the perpetrators of this tragedy were held from 2001 to 2003. As a result, six members of this group—leader Nairi Hunanyan, his brother Karen Hunanyan, their uncle Vram Galstyan as well as Derenik Bejanyan, Edik Grigoryan, and Ashot Knyazyan—were given a life sentence. Hamlet Sargsyan, on the other hand, was sentenced to fourteen years in prison.
