YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities undermine the basis for control over elections, in particular against repeated voting, opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan said.

The authorities are not offering anything instead of control stamps in the passports, he said.

“Around 180,000 of citizens having ID cards will be able to vote for unlimited number of times. Our observers will not be capable to check whether a person voted for the first time,” Pashinyan said commenting on preparation for the December 6 constitutional referendum.

Ruling Republican Party of Armenia has submitted a draft bill allowing to vote with passports and ID cards. The opposition stands against the bill noting that voting with ID card leaves a loophole for repeated voting.
