The statement issued by the Azerbaijani delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly that it plans to bring the issue of the Russian-Armenian military agreement up for discussion at the autumn session is nothing but a canard spread by Azeri propaganda, Head of the Armenian delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Secretary of the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Aram Safaryan told NEWS.am.
According to him, Azerbaijan cannot get any issues put on the agenda of the autumn session. Under the Regulations, documents can only be put on the agenda of the summer session, once a year. “Issues to be put on the agenda of the OSCE PA summer session are normally registered from mid-May on. So I cannot understand what Azeri MPs are speaking about,” Safaryan said. The OSCE PA summer session is to be held in Belgrade next July.
The Trend News Agency reported the Azeri delegation plans to raise the issue of the Armenian-Russian agreement at the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. “The issue of arming the aggressor country under the Russian-Armenian military agreement will be raised at the autumn session,” Vice-Speaker of the Azeri Parliament and Head of the Azeri delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Bahar Muradova said. The Azeri delegation will voice its concern over the protracted Nagorno-Karabakh peace process amid increasing Russian military presence in the Caucasus. According to Muradova, the Nagorno-Karabakh problem is on the agenda as well. “At the special commission’s sitting the reporters and special representatives will deliver reports on the work aimed at resolving the problem, including the information on the OSCE Minsk Group’s activities,” Muradova said.
The OSCE PA autumn session is to be held in Palermo, Italy, Oct 8-11.
