International community should increase its pressure on Armenia, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the meeting with the representatives of foreign diplomatic missions held on the occasion of Ramadan.

Aliyev noted that Islamic states adhere to fair position on the Karabakh conflict, Azertag reported. The Azerbaijani leader expressed confidence that the conflict would be resolved within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and based on norms and principles of international law.”

The President stressed importance of further strengthening of solidarity between Islamic states. He pointed out increasing number of embassies of Muslim states in Baku and Azerbaijan’s diplomatic missions in the Islamic countries.

According to him, Azerbaijan is successfully developing cooperation with Islamic states both within the framework of international agencies and in bilateral format. Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan does its utmost for consolidation of Muslim countries.

In his turn Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Ismatulla Irgashev noted that Azerbaijan’s balanced policy strengthens positions of the country at the international scene. The diplomat called Azerbaijan “a country providing stability and dynamic development in the South Caucasus, example of religious tolerance and inter-civilization dialogue”. He stressed firmness of Muslim countries’ position on Karabakh.
