Receiving education abroad is normal, even necessary, as it is impossible to specialize in some fields in Armenia, RA President Serzh Sargsyan stated at his meeting with students on August 31.

“Sometimes I advise Armenian students to retrain in foreign higher schools. We encourage Armenian students’ education abroad. It is no coincidence that the presidential residence is the place of meetings with all students that study at leading foreign educational institutions. We institute scholarship for many of them. Of course, if the same education can be received in Armenia, Armenian students had better study in Armenia. However, if it is impossible, students can go abroad provided they return to their homeland. If they cannot use their knowledge in Armenia, I do not see anything bad if they try to use their knowledge abroad and then return to their homeland. It happens.

But we must remember that our roots are here, and each Armenian must know that he must return to his roots because the homeland is always waiting for its sons. I say again, if a person cannot use his talent in the homeland, it is not a problem. Some specializations, even scientific fields, are not developed in Armenia. There are no laboratories or necessary conditions here. So going abroad is normal in this case. But I cannot understand the young people who go abroad to do what they might as well do in Armenia. So you can easily gain knowledge abroad, and we will be waiting for you in Armenia, where you can apply your knowledge for our people’s benefit,” the Armenian leader said.
