YEREVAN. – The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia (RA), Armen Ashotyan, has a great personal wish to participate in the “Yes” campaign for the upcoming referendum on constitutional amendments.
Armenian News-NEWS.am on Monday asked Ashotyan what will be his involvement in the campaign season.
“I’m a member of the RPA [i.e. the ruling Republican Party of Armenia] Central Headquarters, and I have a personal desire to be involved in the activities of the headquarters as an RPA Vice Chairman and an RA citizen,” the minister said. “I might hold a separate [press] conference to dissociate the work of the Ministry of Education and Science from the work which I’m also a part of.”
The referendum on Armenia’s draft constitutional amendments is slated for December 6.
Pursuant to the new draft Constitution, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.
