YEREVAN. – The Armenian Rebirth social and political union, which is an initiative of chairman Arthur Baghdasaryan of the opposition Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP), has elected the chief of its campaign headquarters ahead of the constitutional referendum.

The political union informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that the Armenian Rebirth Governing Board convened a meeting on Sunday.

The discussants conferred on the internal and external political developments relating to Armenia, and also reflected on the forthcoming referendum on constitutional amendments in the country.

In addition, the governing board elected Telman Aramyan and  Vahe Mosinyan as Chief and Spokesperson, respectively, of the aforesaid headquarters..

The referendum on Armenia’s draft constitutional amendments is slated for December 6.

Pursuant to the new draft Constitution, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.

The opponents of the proposed constitutional amendments, however, consider them to be primarily the authorities’ attempt to hang on to power.
