YEREVAN. – There is a growing interest in the Armenian mutton exports. 

The Minister of Agriculture of Armenia, Sergo Karapetyan, announced the aforementioned at Wednesday’s parliamentary debates on the 2016 State Budget draft.

In his words, last year the country switched from live sheep exports to mutton exports.

Armenia exported 200 tons of meat in 2014, whereas 400 tons have already been exported so far in the current year.

“It can’t be ruled out that the export volumes will grow by the year’s end,” Karapetyan added. “New buyers have appeared.”

The minister recalled that Halal Slaughterhouse, which was built by Iranian investors and which exports meat to Iran, was put into operation this year in Masis, Armenia.
