YEREVAN. – NATO can contribute to the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, but this contribution will not be considerable.
Representative of the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division at NATO, Steffen Elgersma, said the aforementioned at Friday’s talk with the students at the Armenian State Pedagogical University, and within the framework of the NATO Week in capital city Yerevan.
In his conviction, Armenian-Turkish relations are of great strategic importance.
Elgersma expressed a wish that NATO would become a tool for the improvement of these relations.
He added, however, that we should not harbor illusions that the “ice” between the Armenian and Turkish peoples can be easily broken.
