Committed to its style, grossly violating the ceasefire on the contact line, the Azerbaijani side resorted to another act of sabotage, says a statement issued by the press service of the RA Ministry of Defense.
“The press service of the NKR Ministry of Defense reported that on August 31, at 6:30 a.m. local time, in the north-eastern section of the contact line between the NKR and Azerbaijani troops, near the village of Verin Chailu, the Azeri side attempted an act of sabotage,” says the statement.
The Armenian sentries took necessary measures to prevent the Azeri detachment’s advance. Suffering losses, killed and injured, the enemy task force was thrown back. Rudik T. Manaseryan, a private of the NKR Defense Army, was injured in the skirmish. The details of the incident are being specified.
As usual, the Azeri side accused the NKR forces of the provocation and spread misinformation that the Armenian side suffered losses.
This all proves once more that the Azeri authorities are ignoring the efforts toward a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, organizing regular provocations and destabilizing the situation on the border thereby endangering the peace process.
The Azeri armed forces’ style not only heightens tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line, but also runs counter to the Azeri leaders’ statements on their willingness for a peaceful settlement of the conflict, says the statement.
According to the Azeri side’s claims, the NKR Defense Army attempted an offensive. The Baku sources claim that three Armenian soldiers were allegedly killed in a skirmish. On the other hand, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense officially admitted the death of two Azeri soldiers.
