YEREVAN. - Armenia’s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan has the right to take part in the “Yes” agitation campaign as a concerned citizen of Armenian, Gagik Melikyan, Secretary of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) parliamentary faction, told Armenian News – NEWS.am, referring to the video in which Seyran Ohanyan agitates for adopting the constitutional amendments in Armenia.
“And what’s wrong with the fact that the Defense Minister sees the advantages of the changes and mentions them? The minister is expressing his viewpoint and has the right to do so as an Armenian citizen concerned about the future of his country,” said Melikyan.
According to him, Ohanyan’s “Yes” isn’t an order for persons who have the right to vote, as well as for those who serve in the Armed Forces. “Any military or Armenian citizen has the right to take part in the agitation process and freely express their point of view through ballots. There are no contradictions with the law here,” he said.
