The constitutional amendments give the opportunity to take Armenia in a more democratic path, Prosperous Armenia MP Mikayel Melkumyan said today during his visit to Ashtarak town of Armenia’s Aragatsotn province in the framework of a reality TV project dedicated to the Constitutional amendments.
“There is a chance for the country to take a right direction. We want to build correct bridges over the real rivers. Today the most important decisions are taken by the President, [but] after the constitutional amendments the country’s governance will not depend on persons. Life proved that we must take a more democratic path, and following the constitutional amendments a legal procedure to change the authorities through elections will be available,” Melkumyan said.
“Hayazn” party member Armen Mkrtchyan said that the draft constitutional amendments were drawn out without public discussions.
“The constitutional amendments should have been drawn out as a result of public discussions. There is a lot in connection with these amendments that I can’t agree with,” Armen Mkrtchyan said.
For her part, ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Margarita Yesayan said that the constitutional amendments carried out in Armenia give an opportunity to change the authorities in the country.
