The volume of Azerbaijani gas exported to Iran will increase up to 10 billion cubic meters per year after a new Azerbaijan-Iranian gas pipeline is constructed, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammad Bagher Bahram told Trend News.

One of the points of the program on development of gas industry for 2010-2013 is construction of a new 360-km long Kalmaz-Astara gas pipeline.

Bahram also noted that Iran and Azerbaijan had already signed a short-term agreement on gas purchase.

The Ambassador stressed that the Iranian-Azerbaijani relations have entered a new stage, as both economic and political ties are expended. The countries will in particular strengthen relations in oil and energy sectors, he added.
