Receipts from gas sale rose in the Russian market as compared with the 1st quarter of last year due to higher tariffs - which, in turn, caused a rise in the average gas price – as well as due to a 10% increase in sales, EnergoNews reports.

The Gazprom Company increased gas sales in the Russian market by 6% this January-July 2010 as compared to the corresponding period last year, Andrei Kruglov, Board Vice-Chairman, reported at a teleconference.

“As regards the price situation, we can say that the Government is following the approved price rise schedule. We think that gas prices will go on rising steadily,” he said. A 40% increase in sales was registered in the former USSR republics this January-July. “This year market prices will come into effect for Belarus, Moldova and Armenia. So we expect a rise in gas prices there,” Kruglov said.
