YEREVAN. - Attempts to press the voters in the run-up to the constitutional referendum will be punished, Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan said in the parliament today, responding to the question of Levon Zurabyan, the leader of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC).  

The latter pointed out that ordinary citizens, who are forced to either vote for the constitution or get such votes, are afraid to lose their job or benefits, or even face persecutions.  

“And I’m asking you not to doubt the courage of our compatriots. I urge all of them to personally address the PM if anyone from the local leaders of the “Yes” headquarters or local officials turns to them with such a request and puts pressure on them. I promise to be objective and hold such people liable,” Abrahamyan said.
