Turkey has not changed its attitude towards Armenia, said Selcuk Unal, Spokesman for Turkish Foreign Ministry.

He also stated that at present the meeting between Turkish FM Ahmet Davutodglu and his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian is not planned on the margins of the UN General Assembly. Commenting on the trip of chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff to Turkey, Unal noted that it is a fact finding visit. “The visit of the American general has no special agenda. He just wanted to visit Turkey after his trip to Pakistan,” Unal noted.

The Foreign Ministry Spokesman also stressed that U.S. had not appealed to Ankara on withdrawal of military equipment from Iraq via Turkey. As to transit of technical equipment, the Turkish side had given its consent.

The chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen is arriving in Turkey on September 3. He will meet Turkey’s new military chief Gen. Isik Kosaner. According to Turkish press reports, withdrawal of the American troops from Iraq via Turkey, as well as issues related to Afghanistan and struggling against terrorism are on the agenda.
