“My favorite role is certainly the role of Cyrano de Bergerac,” the renowned French actor Gerard Depardieu told journalists. The actor arrived in Yerevan on September 3 to take part in the “Karot” International Armenian festival.

The actor said he likes all the heroes of French classical writers - Hugo, Dumas: “I also like Russian classical literature, Dostoyevsky opened my eyes. I like Pushkin as well.” Gerard Depardieu also confessed that is an admirer of Russian classical music and postmodernist avant-guardists, whose art was prohibited in the Soviet times. “I think this is a cultural genocide,” he said.

Depardieu does not rule out personification of heroes of Armenian classical literature or folklore in his works. “We can also address the Armenian Genocide,” he noted. The actor confessed he would be happy to produce a film on one of the pages of Armenia’s history.  “French artists of Armenian origin can help me in my work on the film,” the actor said.
