Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Adm. Michael Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, Anadolu news agency reported. The meeting lasted 45 minutes.
Yesterday Michael Mullen met with his Turkish counterpart to discuss military and regional problems.
According to Turkish press reports, withdrawal of the American troops from Iraq via Turkey, as well as issues related to Afghanistan and struggling against terrorism are on the agenda of Mullen's visit.
Speaking with the journalists, Selcuk Unal, Spokesman for Turkish Foreign Ministry, noted that U.S. had not appealed to Ankara on withdrawal of military equipment from Iraq via Turkey. As to transit of technical equipment, the Turkish side had given its consent.
