YEREVAN. – Closed hearings were convened Friday at the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork-Marash Administrative Districts of Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.
As a result, decisions were reached for the arrest of all 21 people whom the National Security Service (NSS) had detained, and who are suspected of plotting serious crimes, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from the court (PHOTOS).
Everything was done in secrecy, and even the attorneys were not saying who their clients were.
The NSS on Wednesday rendered ineffective in Yerevan a criminal gang hat is suspected of plotting grave crimes.
According to the NSS press service, they received an operative information, according to which Armenian citizen Artur Vardanyan (born in 1981), who lived in Spain since 1997 and temporarily resided in Armenia since 2015, had set up and led a criminal gang with the objective of committing serious crimes.
To implement the aforementioned objective, the gang had unlawfully acquired a large quantity of weapons and ammunition, which were hidden in a house in Yerevan that was rented beforehand.
During Wednesday’s search that was conducted at the house and jointly with the police, different types of automatic rifles, pistols, grenade launchers, grenades, explosives and explosive devices, communications equipment, and several other types of ammunition were found and all gang members were detained.
A criminal case was launched into this incident, and a respective investigation is in progress.
