Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan sent a message to Mahmud Ahmadinezhad congratulating him on being re-elected as the president of Iran.

The message says: “I congratulate you on my own behalf and on behalf of the Armenian nation on being re-elected to the post of Iranian President. I wish you new endeavors and success. I am sure together with you we will continue joint efforts to consolidate and develop our bilateral relations in various fields, which is required by the two nations' traditional respect for each other.”

The presidential election in Iran was held on June 12. Central Electoral Committee reported that the acting president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won the race. His rival Mir Hossein Moussavi, called for invalidating the election results.
