YEREVAN. – Several members of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia on Saturday met with a delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

The PACE delegation has arrived in the country to observe the upcoming referendum on constitutional amendments.

The interlocutors discussed matters regarding the plebiscite, informed the NA press service.

They underscored that the referendum be held fairly, transparently, and in keeping with democratic standards. In this connection, the discussants highlighted the role of observer missions.

The referendum on Armenia’s constitutional amendments will be conducted on Sunday.

Pursuant to the proposed amendments, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance, and conduct completely proportional parliamentary elections.
