World-known Armenian-French songwriter Charles Aznavour made a post on his official Facebook page today, reminding the public about the terrible earthquake in northern Armenia in 1988.  

The 91-year-old musician posted the song “Pour toi Arménie” on his page accompanied by the following words: “The terrible earthquake on 7 December 1988 caused great destructions in Armenia. It claimed the lives of thousands of people, and hundreds and thousands were left without a shelter. ”

After the Spitak earthquake, Aznavour always helped the victims of the calamity.

The destructive earthquake of Spitak “shook” Armenia on 7 December 1988. According to the official information, over 25,000 people died, 19,000 acquired disabilities and still 530,000 were left without a shelter in its aftermath.
