YEREVAN. - Turkey wasn’t able to prove the violation of its airspace. The Minister of National Defense of Greece, Panagiotis Kammenos stated the aforementioned today at a joint briefing with the Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan held in Yerevan.  

He noted that the killing of one of the two pilots of the downed Russian Su-24 fighter jet, was in violation of the Geneva agreements and international law.

“This is a military crime committed by those who do not respect the international law,” the Greek Minister stressed.

In his words, Ankara is periodically violating the airspace and sea border of Greece, as well as supporting ISIS through provocations.  

Evidently, he said, illegal trade and transportation of oil, weapons, drugs and people is underway. All the illegally received money is spent to support terrorism.

“If Turkey wants to correspond to international norms, it must stop such actions,” the Minister said.

According to him, if Turkey could prove the fact of the violation of its airspace, the issue would concern the application of the corresponding NATO agreement.

“But the data available prove that the incident occurred in the airspace of Syria,” Panagiotis Kammenos said.
