STEPANAKERT. - 13 hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) have been constructed in Karabakh over the last ten years. Karabakh Minister of Economy Andranik Khachatryan told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

According to him, this allowed to increase the volume of power production over 6 times and reach the level of self-sufficiency in energy. Currently, over 2000 people are involved in the energy sphere.

Ore mining has become another new direction of economy. “Being the youngest [economic] sector, it became the largest source of tax revenues for the state budget, also providing 1500 workplaces,” Khachatryan said.
