On September 8, in Van, Turkey, police clashed with a group of people protesting against the murder of nine Kurdish insurgents.

Four people were injured and taken to hospital.

Milliyet reports that members of the Kurdish party peace and Democracy, as well as the head of the party’s Van regional chapter spoke in front of the party’s office in Van. One of the speaker pointed out that by murdering nine Kurds the Turkish authorities turned Ramadan into a black day.

After the speeches, the participants were crying out “Revenge!”, “Long live Ocalan!”, “Murderer Erdogan!” Police and the protestors clashed. The Kurds were throwing stones at the policemen, who used tear gas.

A number of protestors were taken to hospital, two policemen were injured.
