YEREVAN. – Unfortunate accidents and incidents have not been recorded with the cable car systems that are operated in Armenia, expert Lusine Hovhannisyan told Armenian NEWS-NEWS.am.
In her words, three of these aerial tramway systems that are in use in the country are registered in the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations registry of hazardous production facilities, and they are the ones in Jermuk, Tatev, and Alaverdi. The ropeway systems in Tsaghkadzor and Sevan, however, are not registered.
The three registered cable car systems undergo technical safety inspections, once a year.
As per Hovhannisyan, by and large, all the aerial tram systems in Armenia work all year round, but the ones in Jermuk, Tsaghkadzor, and Alaverdi operate more intensively in winter because they are made of open cable cars, and therefore skiers make use of them in winter.
