YEREVAN. - Iran and Armenia continue working on a document concerning the legal issues of Iran-Armenia railway construction. Armenia’s First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communication Artur Arakelyan told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

“The document will establish an agreement, according to which once the Armenian side finds investors for the construction on its side, the Iranian side will approach its railway spur for the future linkage,” Arakelyan said. The Iranian side made such a statement back in 2013.

To the question on whether the representatives of the construction’s concessionary owner, investment company “Rasia FZE,” have met with the Transport Ministry leadership, Arakelyan said: “The company deals with work stipulated by its concessionary obligations.”   

The railway is planned to be constructed in 6 years. The cost of the project is $3,5 billion. In June 2015, Chairman of the Board of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), Wu Wanliang, reaffirmed the CCECC’s wish to participate in the construction project of Armenia’s southern railway.
