YEREVAN. - Capital likes stable market, and a year ago Armenia joined the unpredictable Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).   Leader of Armenia’s “Free Democrats” party, Khachatur Kokobelyan, told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

“I want to find something positive but I can’t. Why? Because then we also said that by joining the EEU we will get deprived of foreign investments, which is already a fact today. Capital likes stability, and we have joined an isolated club, which is entirely unpredictable. We see what’s happening with the ruble and economics, which is mainly based on oil and gas,” the MP said.

According to the pro-Western MP, the accession to the EEU doesn’t provide security guarantees either, which were also discussed a lot.  “A violation was recorded on the Armenian-Turkish border, which is controlled by Russian border guards; escalation took place on the border with Azerbaijan, [as a result of which] civilians died, tank fire was used for the first time, and we saw no support from the Russian side,” the MP said.

In Kokobelyan’s words, Russia and other Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) states did nothing. “Moreover, Moscow still keeps selling exclusively offensive weapons [to Azerbaijan], which it considers business,” he said.
