YEREVAN. – I very much would have liked to recall a good thing from 2015, but to no avail. 

Secretary of the opposition Armenian National Congress National Assembly Faction, Aram Manukyan, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We [i.e. Armenia] concluded the year with a loss of hope, an absence of absolute optimism towards the future,” Manukyan noted. “Two things bother me; the first—emigration [from Armenia].”

As per the opposition MP, the second peculiarity of the year past was the dire economic condition in the country.

“These two main problems lead to despair, disappointment, [and] apathy,” Manukyan stressed.

In his words, the last note of Armenia’s grave situation in 2015 was the “rigged” referendum on constitutional amendments, and this was yet another disappointment for the population.

“And finally the border tension [with Azerbaijan], also in the context of strained Russia-Turkey relations, also increased the sense of danger among people, in the country,” Aram Manukyan concluded.
