YEREVAN. - Education Minister of Armenia Armen Ashotyan today received Country Manager of Microsoft Armenia, Liana Korkotyan. During the meeting, the sides discussed the IT-related programs of the Ministry.

Ashotyan underscored the importance of cooperation between the Ministry and the leading organizations of the sphere.  Specifically thanks to the joint work of “VivaCell MTS,” “Synopsis Armenia,” “Unicomp” and Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia, several high schools of the republic have launched a program on the development of microelectronics. It is planned to expand the program next year. Apart from this, Ashotyan will present this very program at the World Education Forum (WEF) in London.

For her part, Ms Korkotyan presented proposals on her participation in the state program on providing computers to the first-graders. The Minister informed that the project “One computer to one student” has been launched in Armenia’s Vayots Dzor province. “Our Ministry is interested in getting several proposals so that we can make a good choice,” Ashotyan said.

It was agreed that Microsoft will soon submit its complete proposals and ascertain the list of schools to be included in the pilot program.
