Defense Minister of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan today attended the funeral service of Aramayis Voskanyan, 19, an Armenian soldier killed on the border as a result of shots by the adversary in Karabakh. Minister’s Spokesman Artsrun Hovhannisyan told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am.

During the funeral service held in the soldier’s hometown Gavar, the Minister handed to the parents of Voskanyan the Medal for Military Service, which he was awarded posthumously.

The Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army serviceman Aramayis Voskanyan (born in 1996) sustained a gunshot wound to his head and died on the spot on January 9 at around 9:30pm, at a military foothold of an NKR Defense Army unit, and as a result of the shots fired by Azerbaijan.

Aramayis left behind three sisters. The young man studies at the State Agrarian University.

By the decree signed by the president of the NKR, Bako Sahakyan, Private Aramayis Voskanyan of the NKR Defense Army has been posthumously awarded the Medal for Service in Battle in recognition of his bravery shown during the defense of Artsakh’s state border.
