Georgia intends to form a tourist alliance with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey in the Caucasus.

Maya Sidamonidze, Head of the Tourism and Resort Department, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, said that such an alliance will facilitate the development the tourist industry.

According to her, a special package will be offered, which is supposed to attract tourists to the region.

Armenian tour operators consider the Georgian partners’ idea unfeasible, as regional borders are closed. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan declined the idea of trilateral cooperation. “Any joint projects with that country are out of the question,” Zahra Alieva, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, said, referring to Armenia.
