The Foreign Relations Committee, Armenian National Congress (ANC), is concerned over the OSCE Minsk Group’s statements of September 6 and 9, which deal with the so-called visit of a field monitoring mission to the regions neighboring on Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Such a mission is possible only with the Nagorno-Karabakh authorities’ consent,” the committee states.

A similar mission visited the region in 2005 and presented its report to the U.N. Secretary General. That mission did not visit the Azerbaijan-occupied regions, but only conducted monitoring in the territories under the NKR’s control.

The ANC Foreign Relations Committee urges the NKR authorities to allow the mission to visit the region only if it conducts monitoring of the Azerbaijan-occupied Nagorno-Karabakh territories as well. Armenia, for its part, must provide political support for the NKR authorities’ demands and ensure a favorable response by the OSCE Minsk Group – in accordance with a number of statements on the Azerbaijan-occupied Nagorno-Karabakh territories recently made by high-ranking officials of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs, says the Committee’s statement.
