The drop in oil prices will make Baku’s policy become more realistic in several directions, Russian economist Iosif Diskin told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his words, Azerbaijan’s wellbeing was largely due to the oil prices.

“I believe Azerbaijan will have to conduct a more realistic security policy,” Diskin noted. “More realism will push Azerbaijan toward establishing closer ties with Russia and best comprehending the need for resolving its foreign policy issues.”

The socioeconomic conditions in Azerbaijan have worsened due to the sharp fall in global oil prices.
