Animal deaths due to the foot-and-mouth disease are not recorded in Armavir Province of Armenia.

Head of the Department of Agriculture and Nature Protection of the Armavir Provincial Hall, Artur Ayvazyan, assured the abovementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“In December [2015], foot-and-mouth cases in animals were recorded in Griboyedov and Apaga communities,” Ayvazyan said. “But the situation is normal; the animals are receiving appropriate treatment.”

As reported earlier, as of Wednesday, Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of the Russian Federation) has temporarily restricted the import of several agricultural products—including meat and dairy products—from Armenia.

As grounds for this decision, it pointed to the epidemiological situation regarding the foot-and-mouth disease, and the high probability of it entering Russia, according to TASS news agency of the country.
