YEREVAN. – The Armenian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) does not master the Karabakh issue, political scientist Aleksandr Manasyan said at a press conference on Tuesday.
He stated this reflecting on the ongoing PACE debates on PACE MP Robert Walter’s (UK) anti-Armenian report entitled “Escalation of Violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and Other Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan.”
“There is no institutional connection between our [Armenian] parliamentarians and the expert community,” Manasyan noted. “The experts, the scholars have the way out [of this problem].”
In his words, steps should be taken to prevent such steps by Azerbaijan.
“The problem is why we can’t prevent it. What should we do?” the analyst added. “Our MP should know which of the experts has written what, [and] what his views, preferences are.”
Aleksandr Manasyan added that the respective present-day situation is a consequence of the fact that the Armenian side does not conduct the right policy within European organizations, whereas Azerbaijan consistently creates an image of the Karabakh conflict which is not favorable for the Armenian party.
