YEREVAN. – The information technology (IT) sector turnover in Armenia increased by 17 percent in the year past. 

Minister of Economy Karen Chshmarityan stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday, as he summed up the country’s economic results for 2015..

Accordingly, some 450 IT companies, with 13 thousand specialists, are working in this sector in the country.

The IT sector turnover in Armenia amounted to around $550 million last year.

A total of 79 new IT ventures were established and 329 respective jobs were created in 2015.

Also, co-funding grant competitions were held, and as a result, 235 new jobs were created in Armenia in the year past.
