Afghan citizen Abdulsalam Mehmedrehimi, who had illegally crossed Armenia’s border, is given a one-year prison sentence.
The court considered the respective case in a speedy manner, since the defendant had filed such a petition noting that he is repentant for the crime he had committed.
According to the indictment, Mehmedrehimi had not had a corresponding document for entering Armenia from Turkey. On August 4, 2015, he illegally entered from Turkey into Armenia through Armash village in Armenia’s Ararat Province, where he was apprehended by the border protection service officers.
Criminal charges were brought against Abdulsalam Mehmedrehimi, and arrest was enforced as his restraining order.
