YEREVAN. – Armenia will implement qualitative solutions to neutralize the quantitative imbalances.
The First Deputy Minister of Defense, Davit Tonoyan, noted the abovementioned speaking at military doctrine seminar of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
The event was convened on Tuesday and Wednesday, in the Austrian capital city of Vienna.
The Ministry of Defense informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that in his address at the seminar, Tonoyan presented the results of the strategic review of Armenia’s defense.
The deputy defense minister noted that they plan to implement a series of measures to ensure Armenia’s security.
As per Tonoyan, one such measure is the Deterrence System, which Armenia implements to reduce the current armed conflict. The Deterrence System is gradually pushing out the Static Defense concept, which the adversary could regard as an indication of insufficient military capacity. The Deterrence System will be implemented as both a reactive and a preventive measure.
In Vienna, Davit Tonoyan met also with the Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security for the US State Department, Rose Gottemoeller.
The interlocutors discussed regional security issues, arms control, and the implementation of humanitarian demining projects in Armenia.
