The issue of changing the universally recognized format of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement must be decided by the parties themselves, but Russia sees no necessity for them to do that.

Russian MFA Spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated the aforementioned today, TASS reports.

“The participants must themselves decide the issue of changing the format,” she said. “[But] We see no need in changing it. It’s necessary to actively work and contribute to the progress of the issue settlement within that format.”

“The format is endorsed and universally recognized. Besides, it must be noted that it’s effective in many ways. Apparently, everyone would wish to have more results, but it should be mentioned, that the format works,” Zakharova added.

“If need rises to hold a meeting in a more extended format for the purpose of conflict settlement, we are ready to take part in that meeting as Minsk Group members,” the Russian MFA Spokesperson concluded.
