YEREVAN. – Political persecution is impermissible in Armenia.
National Assembly (NA) Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov on Monday stated the abovementioned in the NA, and in connection with the recent arrest of activist Vardges Gaspari.
In his words, political persecution has remained in the Armenia of the 1990s.
And reflecting on the political opposition’s demand that the country’s law enforcement agencies prepare an analysis on political persecution in Armenia, Sharmazanov noted: “The law enforcement agencies will present their conclusion. But I think that we shouldn’t interfere where the law is in force, and where they work within the law.”
