YEREVAN. – Since March 2014, foreigners have purchased 3.6 billion drams (approx. $7,296,624) of tax-free goods in Armenia, Deputy Minister of Finance Vakhtang Mirumyan on Wednesday said at Parliament.   

In his words, since then the foreigners visiting the country made 5,114 purchases of products of personal use, and in which case they get a refund on the value-added tax (VAT) they had paid when buying these goods.

Mirumyan noted that 600 million drams (approx. $1,216,104) of VAT is so far refunded to foreigners visiting Armenia. 

“The stimulus—the intensification of trade in our country—is apparent here,” he added.
