YEREVAN. – New tools will be applied for the fight against monopolies in Armenia.

Newly appointed Minister of Economy Artsvik Minasyan told the above-said to reporters, after Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

In his words, the recently-passed constitutional reforms envisage a more determined combat against monopolies in the country.

“At the same time, in the economies—such as Armenia—under a blockade, it’s very easy for monopolies to function, whereas uprooting them is harder,” Minasyan said. “Nonetheless, concrete steps will be taken, [and] which comply with the European Union antitrust legislation, and the free market economy conditions of our country.”
