YEREVAN. – A process, which envisions a new phase of accountability, has begun for the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party, alike.

RPA MP Artak Zakaryan, who is also Chairman of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Thursday.

In his words, the RPA-ARF agreement on political cooperation presents in quite detail the domains that will be at the basis of the activities of these two political forces in the country.

“The consistent reforms will refer to various state and public sectors,” Zakaryan noted.

The MP noted that in political terms, this agreement refers to a prolonged period.

“This coalition is unique in the sense that, in essence, the ruling political force [i.e., the RPA] didn’t need a coalition [government],” the deputy stated. “But the [current] situation and the likelihood of new challenges have lead to [the fact] that long-term cooperation of political forces is needed in the political arena [of Armenia].”

Artak Zakaryan added that, in this sense, the ARF can be a good partner for the RPA.

As reported earlier, the Republican Party of Armenia and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party on Wednesday signed a memorandum of cooperation.

According to this document, ARF member Levon Mkrtchyan is appointed Minister of Education and Science, ARF member Artsvik Minasyan is designated Minister of Economy, and ARF member Davit Lokyan is appointed Minister of Territorial Administration and Development.

In addition, the offices of Governors of Shirak and Aragatsotn Provinces also have been assigned to the ARF.
