“Gazprom” state company has dramatically reduced gas supplies to Turkey due to a price controversy with private energy companies of the republic, Interfax reports, citing the data of “Bulgartransgaz.” The latter ensures about half of gas supplies from Russia to Turkey. 

The decline in supplies was recorded back on February 10: the volumes fell by 10 percent then. But the supplies reached their minimal figure in the period from February 15 to 21, reducing by 50 percent then. The volume of supplies decreased by 40 percent during the current week as compared with the analogous period last year, comprising 26.7 mln cu.

The Turkish Energy Ministry said that the main reason behind reduction of supplies is the price war of the Turkish companies with “Gazprom,” and not the anomalously warm weather and the ensuing decrease in gas demand.
